Heading up UX Foundations & Design Systems, I oversee the cross-platform work for Nick and Nick Jr. and work to develop the design framework and strategies that shape all UX/UI.
THE SANDBOX
Designing for kids is a unique challenge. The reality of being an adult designer and "putting on our kid hats" is that we have life experiences that have shaped our perception and preferences, developed schemas and biases, and ultimately formed meaning which could be vastly different from a kid or preschooler who is still in developing stages.
Storytelling
Storytelling and UX choreography are crucial to usability. Kid users sometimes need more focus and handholding when onboarding onto new features or navigational changes. A lot of thought goes into purposeful micro-interactions and animations.
